What are TPCA’s guidelines for the instruction of students who are learning English as a second language?

Twin Peaks Charter Academy implements full English immersion for English Language Learners (ELL) at all grade levels. Within each classroom, teachers provide sheltered instruction to meet the academic needs of the identified student. This form of instruction can take place in a whole or small group, or a one-on-one setting in a variety of content areas within or outside the classroom. Twin Peaks teaching staff utilize a variety of high yield, research based strategies of instruction that support all learners, including the English Language Learner. Professional development is key, and the continued use of student data or progress monitoring ensures that all students, including ELL students, are making progress.
