About Us
Twin Peaks Charter Academy is a highly successful, parent-run public charter school that was established in the fall of 1997 by a group of dedicated parents. These parents desired a richer, more rigorous educational opportunity for children than was available in traditional district schools. They achieved exactly that at this school.
TPCA is a multi-year winner of the prestigious John Irwin award for excellence. Our elementary and middle schools regularly achieve top scores in state CSAP tests and various other measures.
The longest continuously operating charter school in the St. Vrain Valley School District, TPCA's curriculum is founded on the principles of the nationally renowned Core Knowledge sequence, placing strong emphasis on student academics and achievement, character development and parent involvment.
The fully funded and financially healthy school of over 900 students is run by engaged and passionate parents who serve on an elected board of directors and various committees that govern everything from the dress code, to curriculum, to technology implementation.
Furthermore, staff and administrators are motivated and highly trained to help students succeed in an achievement-oriented academic environment. We strive to give the opportunity to learn and excel to as many children as possible. Enrollment at TPCA is open to all who participate in a state-mandated annual lottery, ensuring that the admissions process is fair, open and transparent.
Success Breeds Success
In order to accommodate growing and accelerating demand for our proven program, TPCA moved to a purpose-built campus in central Longmont in the summer of 2009. The 80,000 square-foot facility contains a wealth of amenities including ample room for grades K-12, exceptionally well-equipped art and music rooms, state-of-the-art science and computer labs, and abundant library/media resources. The large commons area, cafetorium, and two gymnasiums perfectly complement the academic facilities and enhance the entire education experience.
