The current status for TPCA: NORMAL

This page is reserved for urgent notices such as school closures. Notices for school closure due to inclement weather will be posted here no later than 5:30 AM.

Inclement Weather

The most common reason for school closures is severe weather. TPCA generally follows SVVSD’s lead on when to close school due to inclement weather. At times, however, we may post an alternate schedule. When severe weather warnings are predicted for our area, the district may be able to cancel school activities with advanced notice. It is the policy of SVVSD that they will not call an early release due to inclement weather once school is in session for the day. Parents and guardians of SVVSD students can register for district-generated news and emergency-related updates through the Infinite Campus system.

In the event of a delayed start due to inclement weather, we will start school 2.5 hours later than regularly scheduled start times. School days delayed due to inclement weather also require the following service adjustments:

Kindergarten Programs

  • Full-day - Will begin 2.5 hours later than their regularly scheduled start times

  • Half-day (Morning) - Will be canceled

  • Half-day (Afternoon) - Will follow normal schedules

After School Programs

  • Before school - Will be canceled

  • After School - Will follow normal schedules

  • Lunch - Will be provided

  • Out-of-district - Will be canceled along with all field trips

  • In-district - Will operate routes 2.5 hours later than their regularly scheduled start times

Athletics and Extracurricular Activities

  • After school - Will follow normal schedules

Delayed starts due to inclement weather and school closure notifications are made via the website. When Twin Peaks remains open, but you believe that weather conditions in your specific area are not safe for your student to attend school, please feel free to contact your school's attendance clerk to obtain an excused absence for your student. When severe weather conditions cause you to keep your student at home, he/she will be able to make up any missed schoolwork without penalty.

Be Prepared

Parents are urged to make arrangements now for the care of their children when changes are made to the schedule. As the weather changes, we all want to be prepared. Please dress appropriately for changing weather conditions. Colorado weather patterns can change suddenly during the day.

Morning dropoff.  If temperature is below 20 degrees F, dropped off students will line up inside. Students should not be dropped off prior to 7:40 AM as we do not have adequate staff for supervision. Students arriving earlier than 7:40 AM will remain outside. Students will be allowed inside at 7:40 AM.

Recess. The administration will determine whether recess will occur outdoors or indoors based on temperature and outside weather conditions at that time.

Afternoon pickup. The administration will determine whether pickup will occur outdoors or indoors based on afternoon temperature and outside weather conditions at that time. If pickup occurs indoors, please proceed to meet your child(ren). There is no need to stop at the front office.
