By the end of the first quarter, students will be able to: computation, estimation, and order of operations of whole numbers; evaluate numeric and algebraic expressions; measure area and perimeter of rectangles and squares; make and interpret frequency tables, line plots, bar graphs, circle graphs and plot 1st quadrant data; interpret data, probability of independent events, box and whisker plots and stem and leaf plots. By the end of the first semester, students will be able to: read, write and order decimals; apply the commutative and associative properties; add, subtract, multiple and divide decimals and metric units. By the end of the third quarter, students will be able to: round and estimate sums and differences in fractions; add, subtract, multiple and divide fractions and mixed numbers; determine equivalent ratios; affects of dimensional changes, percent ratios; relationship between fractions, decimals and percents. By the end of the second semester, students will be able to: identify and classify lines, segments, planes and angles; classify quadrilaterals, polygons and congruent figures; area of circles, parallelograms, and triangles; volume of prisms; compare, add, subtract, multiply and divide integers; write and solve basic equations.
Students will be able to: evaluate powers; use the order of operations; use variables in expressions; describe patterns; solve simple equations with mental math; solve problems involving the perimeter and area of rectangles; compare and round decimals; add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals; find the mean, median, mode, and range of data; construct and interpret bar graphs, line graphs, stem-and-leaf plots, and histograms; find the prime factorization of numbers; find the greatest common factor of numbers Students will be able to: write equivalent fractions; find least common multiples; compare and order fractions; convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions; add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers; convert between fractions and decimals; measure and convert between customary units Students will be able to: compare, order, add, subtract, multiply and divide integers; recognize and describe rational numbers; write ratios and rates; write and solve proportions; solving proportions using cross products; solve percent problems using proportions; convert between percents, decimals and fractions; make circle graphs; measure angles; investigate properties of triangles Students will be able to: name and identify polygons; identify similar and congruent polygons; use proportions with similar polygons; solve problems involving scale drawings; perform transformations; identify symmetry; find square root of perfect squares; approximate square roots; find the perimeter and area of a parallelogram, triangle, and trapezoid; find the circumference and area of a circle; name and sketch solids; create nets of solids; calculate the surface area of rectangular prisms
By the end of the first quarter, students will be able to: write algebraic expressions, use the Order of Operations, perform basic operations with integers, graph on the coordinate plane, simplify variable equations, use factors and prime factoring to find the GCF and LCM, identify equivalent fractions, solve expressions involving fractions and solve equations with fraction. By the end of the first semester, students will be able to: identify rates, unit rates, and determine the difference between rates and ratios, write and solve proportions using various methods, identify similar/congruent figures and solve them, use probability to determine odds and outcomes. By the end of the third quarter, students will be able to: convert fractions decimals percents using various methods, graph/analyze data using Stem-and-Leaf Plots, Histograms, and Box-and-Whisker plots, solve and approximate square roots, solve right triangles, find the perimeter/area of various polygons, find the circumference/area of circles. By the end of the second semester, students will be able to: find the volume and surface area of various three-dimensional objects, write algebraic equations, solve multi-step algebraic equations, and graph linear equations
