Celebrations & activities

Celebrations and Honors

We have several opportunities throughout the year to recognize, honor and celebrate student success. Awards Assemblies, Character Assemblies, School-wide Events, Spirit Days, the Reading Challenge, Individual Student Achievements, and Dress of Choice Days occur throughout the school year. Students in grades 4–5 with GPAs greater than 3.5 may be recognized on our A/B or A Honor Roll. All students in K–5 are eligible for the Timberwolf Award, which honors actions reflective of the Six Pillars of Character, and the Twin Peaks Award, which is given to students who demonstrate overall improvement in academics or character.

More Fun and Field Trips

With the support of our Core Knowledge content, TPCA elementary students experience unique celebrations throughout the year. Examples include: Johnny Appleseed Day, Pioneer Day, Early Explorers of North America Day, a Middle Ages Festival, Ancient Rome Day, China Day, Greek Olympics, and Egypt Day. We also offer several field trips for K–5, including the Denver Zoo, Miller Farms, Colorado State Capitol (all 4th graders), a trip to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science (overnight for 4th graders, day trip for 5th grade), Japanese Tea at Denver Botanical Gardens, River Ecology Day, and more.

We have several optional activities at different times throughout the school year. Some require fees. Examples include: running club; community garden project; rock wall camp; Odyssey of the Mind; sports camps; music and movement; and Spanish camp. Before and after school care is provided courtesy of the YMCA.
