College, Career, and Future Books

Twin Peaks Students and Parents,

We started covering some summer opportunities in February, but here are some reminder links as we get closer to vacation. My hope is that your summer can be an opportunity for you to invest in the things that bring you happiness. This can look like many different things, such as spending meaningful time with friends and family, finding purpose by investing in your community, and enjoying the art, sports, and topics of learning that inspire you

  • Identify some summer programs you’re interested in: Browse through options for day programs, residential programs, and online options that match an interest you’d like to pursue.

  • What camps are available? The Innovation Center offers day camps related to technology and engineering, some of which are held at CU Boulder. Registration opens March 1, and the cost is $150.

  • Interested in volunteering? Check out these volunteer opportunities around Twin Peaks. Make sure to fill out the volunteer hours form in the front office to have the hours count toward your graduation.

  • Schedule changes for next year? You can still view your class requests for next year on your Academic Plan, but if there are some changes you would like to make, please send me an email, and I can add it for you.

  • College App & Admissions Timeline: These resources and calendar will help you stay on track.

  • Explore classes at Front Range: Consider taking a college class in a subject that interests you at Front Range Community College. The class schedule will be available March 6. Submit your course syllabus and final grade to Twin Peaks for the possibility of the course counting as high school credit, too!

  • Hispanic College Institute at Fort Hays University: This program provides free food and lodging to students with a 2.5 GPA or higher and will teach students about the college admissions process and financial aid, provide leadership opportunities, and include the opportunity to compete for scholarships. And it’s free!

  • Colorado College Pre-College Program invites rising juniors and seniors to experience CC’s unique block plan and earn college credit. Scholarships are available.

  • Stanford’s Pre-Collegiate Studies offers programs in humanities, mathematics, and beyond.

  • Schedule a meeting with me: Do you have individual questions about which classes to take next year? Are you wondering what volunteer opportunities are available this summer based on your interests? Are you wondering what you can do this summer to start narrowing down the colleges you are interested in? I’m happy to meet with you (and your parents, if they would like!)

  • The College Board’s National Recognition Programs are open to applications now!

  • Schedule changes? You can still view your class requests for next year on your Academic Plan, but they are now locked to changes so that I can work on the master schedule. If there are some changes you would like to make, please send me an email, and I can add it for you.
