Sculptor and Poet (and TPCA Grandpa) Bill Bunting visited Art in Action art club on Monday to speak with students about how he became a sculptor, the materials and process he uses to sculpt his artwork and about what it means to create art from the heart. The students loved seeing his sculptures and hearing from a working artist!

The ballistic pendulum presents a dynamic way for students to investigate the nature of conservation laws that are at the root of physics. Recently, AP Physics had a chance to analyze projectiles using such a device to examine the interwoven nature of energy and momentum in our universe.

Middle school Algebra 1 students are working on a trend line activity. Their goal is to draw a trend line that is closest to the line of best fit that is generated by a computer. A good example of how we encourage and build HUMAN intelligence at Twin Peaks Classical Academy! #twinpeaksclassicalacademy #svvsd #charterschool #stvrainadvantage

Another moment (among 1,000’s) to celebrate! I spent some time in Ms. Kieser’s Middle School English Class. They are reading Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain, which is a TOUGH read. In a manner of 25 minutes, she had the class reading aloud, thinking through questions, finding evidence, thinking through clues, discussing with one another, gathering evidence, reflecting, inferring, and then—and THEN ladies and gentlemen—the class wrote. There is nothing like a MS classroom with 100% of the students writing, and the only sound being lead on paper. Her approach to teaching makes it possible for students to flourish, with joy, while journeying through their education. Great work!
Attention 5th and 6th graders. If you are interested in playing Spring Volleyball in the City of Longmont Rec program, the registration deadline has been extended. We have to have all of our players registered by end of this upcoming Sunday. Please list TPCA as your school, and Coach McCotter as your coach. If we have enough for 2 teams, we will find another coach as well. Here is the link to the registration page.

One of the best parts of being a PK-12 school is the opportunity for students of all ages to share beauty and wonder with each other. Yesterday the Middle School Choir, Orchestra, and Band performed for all of the Elementary students. One highlight was when the Middle School and Upper Elementary Choirs sang "Duct Tape," a silly, but beautifully arranged song about the wonders of duct tape.
